Fudge-a-Mania by American author Judy Blume (born 1938), published by E. P. Dutton in 1990, is the fourth book in her beloved Fudge series. The story follows twelve-year-old Peter Hatcher as his family spends three weeks of summer vacation in a rented house in Southwest Harbor, Maine — only to find that their next-door neighbour is Peter's nemesis Sheila Tubman and her family. Adding to Peter's horror, his five-year-old brother Farley Drexel Hatcher ("Fudge") decides he is going to marry Sheila. The vacation unfolds through a string of Fudge-instigated calamities involving a mynah bird named Uncle Feather, a runaway dog, a lobster cookout and an aging baseball star. Blume's trademark child-narrator voice and observational humour make the book a long-standing favourite for readers aged 8-11.
