Venerable Dr. Thich Huyen-Vi, born on April 8, 1926, in Ninh-Thuận, South Vietnam, was a prominent Buddhist scholar and leader. Ordained as a monk at nine, he pursued rigorous studies in Buddhism and Confucian classics. He advanced in his monastic career, becoming a teacher and later receiving higher ordination. Dr. Huyen-Vi moved to Saigon for deeper Buddhist studies and served in various educational and leadership roles. Seeking broader knowledge, he studied in India, earning multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. 

He returned to Vietnam as a professor but political unrest forced him to relocate to France. There, he led the Linh Son Buddhist Association, established a global network of monasteries, and significantly contributed to Buddhist education and research. Dr. Huyen-Vi's life's work embodied the ideal of "bodhisattvacaryà sarvasattvahitàya," dedicating his efforts to the welfare of all beings.
