The book is fast-paced and sexy with lots of exotic countries, beautiful women and action. However, there is also depth in all the characters; some scenes are emotional and psychological, and they show the characters as human beings and how they became the way they are, including the villains. There is obviously a lot of research and travelling done by the authors on the history and culture of all the places written about in the book so this fictional story is educational while being entertaining. There are also witty moments of comedy added in to make you laugh. Some locations are glamourous, like the Ritz Hotel in Paris and Hotel Danieli in Venice, mixed with grittier places like war-torn Somalia and cultural towns like Auro Preto in Brazil. I felt that I have travelled the world in this book. Light reading and entertaining.
